Lean manufacturing/Lean enterpriseWorking for a Yorkshire SME as a Lean champion aforded the opportunity to study first hand the Lean implemention process, from introduction to fully functional improvement circles with its problems and pitfalls. Thereafter we have helped a number of companies to benefit from Lean ideas by training their staff, e. g. a one-day Lean workshop or a 5-day Lean course for champions, and supporting their implementation process. Back to top Approvals managementThrough many years of close involvement with the Automotive EMC Directive, we have acquired an excellent understanding of the procedure and test requirements needed to comply with this directive. We have also researched other approval requirements for both electronic and non-electronic products, after which we worked out plans to meet these requirements and project managed the process. Multilingual technical support (English/German/Chinese)
We have both native speakers of English and German at our disposal. In addition to this we have personnel with degrees in Chinese Studies and years of studying Mandarin Chinese in a Chinese speaking territory. Our specialist knowledge has been used to translate technical manuals and promotional literature from English into German for various organisations. In this we work with a German translation office to ensure the highest possible standards.

Research Service
We have researched a wide variety of subjects both before and since formal research training. For example, we researched how new EU directives applied to a particular company and also had an article on this subject published.

Martin Braun
Martin Braun Consulting is run by a multi-faceted, German electrical/electronics engineer who has been living in Yorkshire since 1999. After serving an apprenticeship as an electrician with a German machine tool manufacturer and working for seven more years in related positions, Martin studied electrical engineering/electronics in Aachen, Germany and Coventry, UK. After graduation he received a scholarship to study Chinese in Taiwan. Subsequent to his settling in Yorkshire he gained an MSc in EMC and RF communication whilst working for a local SME. After that he completed an MA with merit in Chinese Studies whilst starting up his own consultancy business. He also holds the IOM’s Certificate of Operations Management.

To obtain an excellent understanding of the background to lean manufacturing Martin attended many different training courses, e.g. the Lean and Agile MSc module at Cranfield University, and studied different implementation procedures through factory visits. In 2004 he won the Yorkshire Productivity Award for the category 'Individual, SME'.
